This program is part of aspecial three-part series offered by the Roger Tory Peterson Institute on better understanding the challenges faced by one of Chautauqua County’s biggest attractions—Chautauqua Lake.
Upon their introduction, invasive species can dramatically alter an ecosystem and trigger significant losses of native flora and fauna. In aquatic systems, invasive species can spread especially rapidly by developing thick, impenetrable mats making it impossible for boats, swimmers and birds to pass through. Join Roger Tory Peterson Institute’s Twan Leenders and Elyse Henshaw for a special program concerning the invasive aquatic plants currently affecting Chautauqua Lake and the surrounding region, their impacts on waterfowl and other important waterbirds, and what we can do to prevent the spread of these alien species. This event is hosted by the RTPI Ornithological Club.
